Turkish Industries Set To Stand Out At China International Import Expo

SHANGHAI – A wide range of Turkish industries have participated at the first ever China International Import Expo (CIIE), a major global event which will gather leading companies from across the globe.

Taking place in Shanghai at the National Exhibition and Convention Centre from 5 - 10 November, 38 Turkish companies showcased products from a range of sectors including alimentation; from Turkish nuts, olives and olive oil, coffee, rose oil to ice cream; Turkish jewellery and alongside more than 3,000 companies from 130 countries. General Motors, Ford, Microsoft, Samsung, Walmart, and Tesla, along with tech giants Facebook and Google have participated in this high-profile expo.

Already a global leader in many of these sectors, Turkey is aiming to enhance trade relations with the Chinese market through the expo and with a delegation spearheaded by the Vice Minister of Trade, Mrs. Gonca Yılmaz Batur, alongside Foreign Economic Relations Board Member Mr. Murat Kolbaşı.

Speaking about the event, Mrs. Batur said: “The CIIE is a great opportunity for Turkish exports to access significant opportunities in the Chinese market and we are delighted to highlight products from such a diverse range of sectors in which Turkey excels. We have a long history of trading with China, going back centuries, and this is another important milestone in that relationship.

We are especially excited to showcase our rose oil – few people know that 65% of the world’s rose oil is produced in Turkey. In addition, we have recently seen a remarkable rise in Turkey’s imprint on world olive oil markets, with both quality and quantity increasing exponentially in the last year – with Turkey becoming the third largest exporter of olives and olive oil in the world and the only non-EU exporting nation to have its olive oil exports grow in 2017.”

The Turkish delegation signed an MOU with Suning, leading smart retail enterprise in China, on 6th of November, in order to follow the call of the 2018 China International Import Expo, for stimulating the vitality of global trade, and create an open and win-win pattern. An important protocol signing between Everbright Group and Bailian Group took place for promoting, marketing and sales of Turkish food products on 8th of November.
