Istanbul Recognized As Global Fashion Capital At America's Leading Fashion Gathering
Turkish Exporters Showcased at MAGIC In Las Vegas
Las Vegas, NV—North America’s leading fashion marketplace MAGIC today opened in Las Vegas featuring 17 Istanbul designers, manufacturers and brands in a demonstration of the Turkish city’s growing status as a global fashion capital.
Organized by UBM Fashion and featuring all major international fashion brands, MAGIC is a four-day staple in industry calendars, taking place at the iconic Mandalay Bay and Las Vegas Convention Centers.
Istanbul’s top designers and fashion houses are exhibiting a range of womenswear, menswear, fabrics, accessories, and footwear.
Turkey, Europe’s largest textile producer, has long been a leader in the production of fashion textiles, owing to the industry’s talented workforce and historical expertise. In recent years the country has become a manufacturing powerhouse for the global fashion industry, with major brands including Hugo Boss and Balmain leveraging Turkey’s ‘best of both’ blend of fair pricing and quality production.
Fashion has increasingly become an integral part of Turkey’s place in the global economy, with the nation of 80 million exporting $17 billion of apparel annually, totalling 12% of its exports.
Turkish participation at MAGIC is part of the increasing visibility of Turkish creativity and innovation in design at key international events and is organized by the Istanbul Textiles and Apparel Exporters’ Association (İTKİB), an industry group with more than 10,000-member exporters.
Commenting on the impact of Turkey’s participation at the show, Mr. Ozkan Karaca, Deputy Chairman of İHKİB said, “Istanbul is making its mark in the fashion industry. Judging from the array of talent and originality on display, and from the response the Turkish presenters are generating from participants and buyers out of Paris, Milan, New York and elsewhere, it is clear to see why Istanbul is increasingly recognised as a global fashion capital.”
